Title: Mehfil with Dr. Shashank Maktedar

    Description:

Dr. Shashank Maktedar’s musical journey started at an early age in Aurangabad under Pandit Nath Neralkar. In 1991, after winning a national talent search competition organised by ITC Sangeet Research Academy, he received ta’lim in the guru-shishya parampara format from Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar over a sustained period of nine years. An ‘A’ grade All India Radio artiste, Shashank has performed widely across the country at almost all major classical music festivals. He has also toured U.S.A., U.K., France,Switzerland and other countries, winning praise and appreciation for his steadfast commitment to gharanedar gayaki.

Shashank is endowed with the voice of a seasoned vocalist at a relatively young age. His singing is truly reflective of his guru Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar in that it is constitutive of a wide range of ornamentation principles used in khayal gayaki within an overall aesthetic approach. For this special mehfil, Shashank would present makhsoos ragas of the Gwalior, Agra and Jaipur-Atrauli gharanas, laying stress on presenting paramparik bandishes. He would be accompanied by Pandit Vinod Lele (Tabla) and Dr. Vinay Mishra (Harmonium).
